Charles,

Last fall we took delivery of our Ameri-Camp from OER in Falling Waters, WV.

There were a number of things wrong (See Attachment 1). We called you and you tried very much to help.

The trailer was sent back to OER about October 14th, where it stayed until December 12th when it was returned.

During the interval, I called a number of times trying to ascertain about when the trailer would be ready for return. We were informed that everything was done except they were waiting for parts for the table. We really didn't understand that because all the table needed was to be turned around, so we figured they needed some special screws or some part had broken while trying to reverse the table.

Each time I called, I had asked Rick if the windows had been fixed, and was assured each time they would open properly.

When the trailer was finally delivered the first thing we checked out was the windows. Not only were the same windows either difficult or impossible to open, just as before, but now the heads on a number of the screws were badly mangled.

Then we looked at the table. At first is just didn't look right. Then we realized that the table had not been turned around as requested, but had been replaced with a smaller and flimsier model. See attached photos.

Next we opened the main slide-out. As it was reaching the end of the extension, the wood trim along the left side began to be pried away from the wall. See attached photo.

Apparently they adjusted the slide-out and it is now out of alignment possibly to the point of severe damage to the structure. We have not tested the slide-out for water as of yet.

Item 6 on our original repair list, the tie-back strap for the bedroom door, was replaced with a plastic one which has the same problem as before. Without a pair of pliers or a screw driver we can't get the snap loose. There is nothing to grab hold of except the snap itself.

On the positive side, the cabinet doors, and the electrical cable (#7 on the repair list) have been repaired satisfactorily. I'm not sure about the generator wiring, (#8) it looks like it may have been worked on but it is still rather tight and may fail when we begin to travel.

While I appreciate you assistance in the past with OER….I can guarantee you they will NEVER touch this or any trailer we ever own again.

Would the factory be able to help us by correctly aligning the slide-out if we could bring the trailer to your site in Indiana at a pre-arranged date and time?

Also would it be possible to obtain a replacement table of the type that originally came in our trailer?

We appreciate what you have done and we are looking forward to spending time in our new trailer.

REPAIRS TO THIS TRAILER

  1. Dining room table is mounted to the floor backward.Extension is facing the wall and cannot be opened.
  2. When main slide out is extended, rain water is leaking into the ceiling padding accumulating like a sponge. Please check all seams on slide outs for leaks.
  3. All sliding windows are difficult to open, some cannot be opened all the way, and many of the window latches are extremely tight. Crank open windows are fine.
  4. Some of the brand new living room windows have rusted screws on bottom slide stops.
  5. All double opening cabinet doors won’t close properly. Hinges hung too closely together. See marker tags.
  6. The holding strap on the top of the bedroom sliding door has no way to grab it to pull it off the snap. There should be a tab of fabric after the strap. Neither of us can release the door strap to close the door without using pliers.
  7. Inside the exterior storage compartment, 110 volt cable which goes into wall directly above the outside shower insert. Cable goes through rough aluminum beam without protection. Eventually this will short out. I tried to put a piece of flex tube over it but was unable to get the tubing into the space.
  8. Inside the exterior storage compartment, generator control wiring harness is pinched between steel structural beam and one of the aluminum floor joists. This will be damaged within a short time if not rectified.

SEPARATE ISSUE

  1. If it appears that damaging freezing will occur while you have the trailer, the trailer may need to be winterized, at our expense. If you don't believe this to be a problem, we will do it after we use the trailer for a late season camping trip, after you return it. Thanks.

Call us, if needed.
